Apparent crane fire at Philly shipyard leaves one injured

    Authorities say an apparent fire on a large crane at the Philadelphia shipyard sent one worker to the hospital.

    Officials say fire department units were called to the Aker Shipyard in south Philadelphia at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

    Capt. Clifford Gilliam said units reported smoke inside the crane and one worker was transported.

    KYW reported that the victim was taken to the burn unit at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where a condition report was unavailable.

    He said fire department units later returned and the navy yard fire department was handling the case.
