Another week, another rooftop burglary in Germantown

Just two weeks removed, and a quarter of a mile away, from the legendarily bungled — but still unsolved — Chelten Avenue prescription-pill heist, an unknown burglar breached a dollar store’s rooftop entrance and made off with $5,400.

According to police, the 12:20 a.m. Friday burglary occurred at the Giant Dollar Store location at 35 E. Chelten Ave.

The burglar, whose image and deeds were captured by surveillance cameras, “took money from several cash registers and a rear office,” police said.

He is described as a man with a medium build in his twenties with a close-shaved head and possible goatee. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time.
