Another hazardous release reported at Delaware City refinery

Environmental officials are reporting another hazardous release from the Delaware City refinery.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says the refinery released 100 gallons of sulfur dioxide into the air on Thursday morning.
WDEL-AM reports that the chemical is considered hazardous by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the incident remains under investigation.

The release came just one day after the plant’s owners announced a $1 billion expansion that would cut emissions.
