Annual service honors deceased police and firefighters

    More than 400 deceased Philadelphia police officers and firefighters were honored today in the annual Living Flame Memorial Service at Franklin Square Park.

    Family members of the deceased joined officers, firefighters and Philadelphia elected officials in remembering those who died in the line of duty.Added to the list this year is firefighter Joseph Dugan. Dugan died in 1943 battling a fire aboard a ship. No police or firefighters have died since last year’s service.
