The city of Philadelphia has officially introduced its new Director of the office of LGBT Affairs.

Amber Hikes said in returning to Philadelphia to lead the office of LGBT affairs, she plans to be inclusive in her work helping the city’s LGBTQ community.

So for those of you who have not felt that they have been heard, I hear you, for those of you who have felt they have been seen I see  you.  For those who feel like they haven’t had a seat at the table I say pull up a chair.  Because in truth we need all the voices in this conversation.”

Hikes said after a week on the job she believes Philadelphia City Government does understand the problems of the community.

“I am so excited with people who get it who really get it who understand the importance of empowering all Philadelphians and making sure the government is doing just that.”

Hikes said she wants to work with her commission to stand up for the most vulnerable citizens and make sure city agencies are sensitive to the LGBTQ community.
