ALS funding

The ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia has secured $325,000 in funding from the state with the help of State Rep. Josh Shapiro. People in the region battling ALS will benefit from the funding by way of in-home care, equipment and clinical services.

The Glenside News Globes Times Chronicle tells the story of Wes Rose, a constituent of Shapiros’s 153rd District, who sufferes from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Rose, a Glenside resident, will be among those who receive 11,250 hours of in-home and respite care from the funding.

Also on tap for the budget is technology that will help ALS patients communicate better, as the disease eventually limits their ability to talk.
