8 ways to ring in 2016 with the kids in tow

    Philly has no shortage of family-friendly New Year’s Eve festivities! Here’s a look at how you can ring in 2016 in style.

    Party on Ice

    Skate into 2016 at the Blue Cross RiverRink’s Party on Ice. With music, entertainment and an amazing view of the SugarHouse New Year’s Fireworks over the river, this event is sure to please the entire family. The 5 to 8 p.m. session is ideal for families. Fireworks are at 6 p.m. and midnight. Open 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets $30.

    Countdown to NoonPhilly’s youngest will be delighted to cheer in the New Year at the Please Touch Museum’s Countdown to Noon celebration. There are two countdown options — 10 minutes before noon and then again before 1 p.m. Open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $25, pre-purchase is recommended.

    Kids New Year’s Eve CountdownDance into the New Year at Franklin Square’s Kids New Year’s Eve Countdown! Don’t miss the dance party, Square Drop, and Electric Spectacle Light Show finale! The square also boasts a great view of the SugarHouse Fireworks. 3 to 8 p.m. Free

    Independence Seaport New Year’s Eve PartyFor an awesome indoor view of the SugarHouse Fireworks head over to the Independence Seaport Museum! The annual family friendly celebration is from 5 to 7 p.m. Free with museum admission.

    New Year’s Eve Splash

    Toast the New Year with all your favorite fish friends at the Adventure Aquarium’s New Year’s Eve Splash! Open 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Free with regular admission.

    Battleship New JerseyWatch the SugarHouse Fireworks from the decks of the Battleship New Jersey! Take a tour of the historic ship and enjoy refreshments before the fireworks. Ship opens at 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. fireworks and 10 p.m. for midnight fireworks. $10 donation.

    Toast with Ghost

    Usher in the New Year with a bit of history, tradition and ghostly fun at the historic Powel House! The 6th Annual New Year’s Eve Ghost Tour starts at 7 p.m. Tickets $22. Ages 13 and up.

    C is for CelebrationRing in the New Year with Sesame Street friends. Enjoy a day full of music, dancing and fun that ends with a firework filled sky. Opens at 1 p.m. Tickets $25 online and $30 at the gate. Countdown with the Count Dine requires an addiction ticket and reservation.
