39th District Police Captain recovering after hit-and-run

The commanding officer of the 39th Police District is recovering from a broken leg after being involved in a hit and run accident early Sunday morning.

Police say it happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of W. Hunting Park Avenue and Clarissa Street in Nicetown.

Captain Stephen Glenn was stopped at a red light while on patrol in an unmarked car when another vehicle slammed into the back of his sedan and drove off towards Roosevelt Boulevard, police said.

Glenn was treated for a broken leg at Temple University Hospital and is now recovering at home.

Accident investigators say the car that struck Capt. Glenn’s vehicle is a reddish-rust color Pontiac, Buick or Oldsmobile with a missing grille, shattered passenger side headlight and damage to the front bumper.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the accident investigation unit at 215-685-3180.
