DiCicco takes aim at high-decibel motorcycles
Philadelphia City Councilman Frank DiCicco wants to outlaw extra-loud motorcycles.
DiCicco plans to introduce legislation at Thursday’s council meeting that would make it illegal to operate cycles fitted with after-market mufflers designed to make them louder, according to a press release issued by his office late this afternoon.
“These guys think its OK to rev their engines, roar down the street and disturb our neighborhoods,” DiCicco said in the statement. “They have no thought for the people around them.”
It would also be illegal to install these mufflers. Installing one or riding a bike that has one would both be punishable by a $1,500 fine. A business that puts such a device on a bike could also lose its business privilege license.
