35-year-old man fatally shot in East Germantown [Updated]

Police responded to a shooting call on the 800 block of E. Woodlawn St. just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

They found a 35-year-old man in the street after suffering a gunshot to the right side of his head.

Medics transported the man, whose identity has not yet been released, to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was declared dead less than a half hour later.

A police spokeswoman said Sunday morning that there have been no arrests in the case and no word about what precipitated the slaying.

The website Guncrisis: Philadelphia posted photos from the crime scene, and information that the shooter fled in a dark-colored minivan.

UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Bryant Purcell, 35, of the 1900 block of Faunce St. in Northeast Philadelphia.
