2016 Wildwoods International Kite Festival photos

Kites large and small dotted the skies in Wildwood, NJ., this weekend. It was 31st Wildwoods International Kite Festival held on the beach near the convention center.

It’s a perfect place too. From boardwalk to ocean the beach spans 370 yards. It’s so far that Wildwood has its own beach taxi service. The beach continues to grow even wider due to jetties built in Cape May to the South.

On Sunday, the winds were on the light side for many of the biggest kites to stay airborne but around 3 p.m. the sun burst out and the winds kicked up and large fish-shaped kites began to join the huge purple octopus that somehow stayed up most of the day.

The festival featured demonstrations from stunt kites, a mass acension to multi-line ballet kite flying.
