2 men killed in Howell crash

    Two men were killed early this morning in a Howell car crash, police said. 

    Police identified the victims as William Farrell III, 25, of Farmingdale and his passenger, Timothy Lippincott, 26, of Farmingdale. 

    According to a release from the Howell Township Police Department, an initial investigation reveals that the men were in a 1993 Dodge Stealth when the vehicle crossed the double yellow center line and left the roadway, striking a tree and then a utility pole.

    “The vehicle was nearly split in two” in the crash that occurred near 173 Asbury Avenue around 2:30 a.m., according to the release.

    Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene. 

    “The Howell Police extend our condolences to the family and friends of both of the young men,” the release said. 

    In addition to police, the Farmingdale-Howell First Aid Squad and Squankum Fire Company responded.

    Howell Police Traffic Safety officers Scott Brooks and Matthew Cherney are investigating.
