Sixers seeking new coach, fan support
Doug Collins is out as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Now-former Sixers coach Doug Collins says he made the decision around Christmastime.
“There’s a lot of things that I want to enjoy and I think it’s every man’s dream to be able to live that life that you worked so hard to try to live and that’s what I want to do,” he said.
Collins says he has five grandchildren he wants to spend time with, among other things.
Sixers owner Josh Harris says the season didn’t go as planned, but building a good team doesn’t happen overnight.
“Things don’t always work out, you know, you just make good decisions and then they work out,” Harris said. “I am very optimistic about the future.”
Harris stressed Collins was not fired, and will remain with the team as an advisor next year.
