18-year-old Penn State student diagnosed with Tuberculosis

Penn State University has announced an 18-year-old student has been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

The University says the student lives in Sproul Hall on the school’s University Park campus. While the student did not receive any care at Penn State, the University says it was able to confirm the case through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The school says it is now working with the state Department of Health to contact those who were in close contact with the student to provide them with testing.

Testing is not being recommended for other students who lived on her floor or for those with intermittent contact, including in class, the University said Friday.
