Tenants may get chance to retrieve stuff from burned West Philly apartments

After being kept out for a month, there is hope tenants are going to be able to get into a burned West Philadelphia apartment building to retrieve their belongings.

City Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell says residents of the Windermere Court Apartments can now go to the complex to retrieve their belongings and pets.

“Tenants as of today, Tuesday, can report from noon to three and five to seven at the apartment building to get their belongings,” she said.

The owners of the property issued a statement saying they are still not sure if belongings and animals can be retrieved, and there is no guarantee that it will be possible.   The owners are working with a demolition company to help people find their belongings.  The statement adds that word of people sneaking into the complex has the owners worried.  It urges tenants not to risk their safety to retrieve their stuff.
