14th anniversary for South Jersey’s Red Hat groups

Never hard to find, South Jersey’s Red Hat Society members were even easier to spot yesterday when they all came together to celebrate the group’s 14th anniversary.

Made up of women mostly over 50, the group is known more for its clothes — large hats, oversized jewelry and various accessories, all in purple and red — than its mission to unite women.
The Gloucester County Times was at RiverWinds Restaurant in West Deptford yesterday to catch up with the more than 100 women of South Jersey who identify with the Red Hats Society.

Wondering how you join? For one member it was as easy as being spotted in the supermarket wearing purple shoes.
