12th annual Blobfest takes over Phoenixville

In 1958, a goant blob of jelly arrived on planet Earth, destroying everyone in its path and growing as it did so.

More than 50 years later, the Blob sticks around Phoenixville, where a scene from the Steve McQueen movie was filmed. Instead of avoiding its path, Phoenixville residents will celebrate the Blob this weekend at the 12th annual Blobfest.

The festivities kick off Friday night with the popular remake of the “running out” scene, in which Phoenixville residents re-enact the scene from the film when the actors flee the Chester County borough’s Colonial Theater, desperately trying to escape the Blob. The video above shows residents fleeing the Colonial at the 2010 Blobfest.
