12-year-old girl waiting for school bus reportedly raped in E. Germantown

A 12-year-old girl waiting for the school bus was reportedly sexually assaulted near Price and Ardeigh streets in East Germantown on Tuesday morning, according to a Daily News report.

Word of the 7:30 a.m. assault, which police are currently investigating, reached Imani Education Circle Charter School, which the girl attended. The school issued a statement later in the day.

“The board, administration, and staff … are deeply saddened by the report of the assault of one of our students,” it reads. “We are committed to working with law enforcement to the fullest capacity until we are able to bring the perpetrator to justice.

“Although we have made every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students on the grounds of our school and within our school facility, crimes can and do occur outside of any school’s property. We have long been a partner to this community and we remain committed to working with our neighbors to all do our part to keep children safe. Our sincerest prayers go out on behalf our student and the family.”

According to the Daily News report, the victim told investigators that an unknown male in his late teens or early 20s, who was wearing a ski mask, hoodie and jeans, forced her into an alley and sexually assaulted her. She went home and told her parents, who took her to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, it stated.

NewsWorks has reached out to the police special-victims unit for more information. An update will be posted when more details are received.
