12-year-old girl shot in Wilmington

A 12-year-old girl was one of two young people shot near the intersection of Second and N. Franklin Streets just before 8 p.m. Wednesday.

 

The girl was found by police inside her home in the 100 block of N. Frankliin street with a gunshot wound to the buttocks.  A second victim, a 17 year old male, was found a few blocks away at a home in the 1200 block of W. 2nd Street.

Police believe the two were hit by gunfire in the area of Pleasant and N. Franklin Streets.  It’s not clear at this point in the investigation whether they were the intended targets of the shooting.

Both victims were taken to A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in stable condition.  Police have not released any information on possible suspects.
