Steve Clark is a Philadelphia teacher who always wanted to do something heroic – on the scale of a Greek hero. Problem is, he doesn’t have the body of a Greek hero. He’s never been athletic. He has asthma. He says he’s totally uncoordinated.

But when he turned 31, he decided that it was time to give this hero thing a try. He signed up for the 2015 Philadelphia marathon, and even though his training had been rather lackluster, he showed up on race day, determined to finish.

Listen to his story above, or read about his experience in this first-person piece Steve did for Philly Mag.
