Women in Pennsylvania politics; Bears in the ‘burbs

Women candidates were out in force in Pennsylvania’s recent primaries for governor and Congress.  Yet five female Democrats lost out to male opponents.  Pennsylvania has never elected a female governor or senator.  Starting next year, Pennsylvania’s 18 representatives in Congress will all be men.  We examine why women struggle to win support in the state with Philadelphia Inquirer Columnist KAREN HELLER and KELLY DITTMAR, Assistant Research Professor at Rutgers University’s Center for American Women and Politics.  And, recently there have been a number of black bear sightings in suburban Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  The bears are turning up in backyards to snack at birdfeeders and trash cans or even take a dip in the pool.  Marty talks with KELCEY BURGUESS, principle biologist and black bear project leader with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, about why bears are coming to the ‘burbs and how we should handle these wild encounters.
