Violinist Abigail Fayette Graduation Recital

    Violinist Abigail Fayette said talking about playing the violin, “I never really had anything else in my life that I really truly felt throughout my entire being.” Currently Abigail is pursuing a master’s degree at the New England Conservatory.

    Mozart composed Sonata in B-flat major, K.454 in 1784 and is one of his later violin sonatas. Listen for the way Mozart uses the exchange of the melody between the violin and the piano.

    Music on waves for solo violin was commissioned for Abigail Fayette’s graduation recital. Abigail’s challenge was to play this difficult piece effortlessly.

    Schumann: Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Op. 121

    Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Op. 121 is Schumann’s less well-known violin sonata and his second violin sonata. This sonata is considered very personal for Schumann because it shows emotion, yet heartwarming with glimpse of lightness and beauty. The movements are marked:
