The Soldier’s Tale

    On Stage At Curtis features the musical excerpts from the original Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire Du Soldat (The Soldier’s Tale) theatrical work. This septet instrumentation consists of a clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, violin, double bass and percussion.

    L’Histoire Du Soldat is a tale of a soldier traveling down the road and stops to play a violin; the devil comes along in disguise making a deal with soldier for the violin, the story continues with a number of events that happens within the story. The suite has the following movements The Soldier’s March; Music to Scene I;
    Music to Scene II; The Royal March; The Little Concert; Tango-Waltz-Ragtime; The Devil’s Dance; Great Chorale and Triumphal March of the Devil.
