First for January 12, 2018

    Preserving historic treasures
History is the theme for many of Delaware’s main attractions and thanks to grant money, officials can maintain them and continue to bring at least one attraction to life as we’ll see in this week’s First Look during a visit to the John Dickinson Plantation in Dover.

    Biden Chamber
The Delaware Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner this week. Former Vice President Joe Biden was the keynote speaker, focusing his speech on what he called America’s “broken” political climate.

    Trump Impact
Next Saturday marks one year with Donald Trump as President of the United States. You’ll get a lot of opinions about the last year depending on who you listen to. What you won’t get is an idea of Trump’s impact in Delaware. So, let’s listen to some reaction.

    Dace on Biz
Across the country and here in Delaware, pension funds may be on rocky ground.
In his monthly segment, contributor Dace Blaskovitz talks to Jonathon Williams of the American Legislative Exchange Council on what states are doing about public pension liabilities

    MLK Inspiration
January 15th marks the 89th birthday of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. From his compassion for the oppressed, defiance against segregation and courage to stand up against injustice, King’s activism lives on today. The Reverend Canon Lloyd Casson, Rector Emeritus of the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew in Wilmington is among those who picked up King’s torch.

    First Experience: Robert C. Jackson
Robert Jackson wasn’t always an artist. He went to school to be an electrical engineer, but a gift of oil paints and a painting course with a well-known Delaware artist while at UD changed all that. Now, Robert is a full-time still life artist, but as you’ll see, Robert’s work goes beyond what you may think of as still life. We visited Robert in his Kennett Square studio for this week’s First Experience.
