Ballot Talks: Non-mayoral races in Philadelphia

    Listen

Guests: Brian Hickey, Patrick Kerkstra, Julia Terruso

On today’s edition of Ballot Talks: we take a look at some of the non-mayoral elections taking place this year in Philadelphia. There are a few interesting races taking place in City Council. In the 2nd District, incumbent Kenyatta Johnson is being challenged by a fiery young developer, Ori Feibush. The 9th District being vacated by Marian Tasco has a lot of contenders, and the “at-large” seat is up for grabs due to a vacancy left by now-mayoral candidate, Jim Kenney. We’ll also discuss this year’s judicial elections and find out why this year is such a big one for the judiciary. And, we’ll take a look at the special election taking place in House District 170, following the election of Brendan Boyle to the US House of Representatives. Joining us to break all of this down for us is BRIAN HICKEY, editor of NewsWorks’ election-focused NinetyNine blog, PATRICK KERKSTRA, editor of Philadelphia Magazine’s “Citified” election coverage, and JULIA TERRUSO, reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
