Woman strikes utility pole, ejected in Toms River

A 23-year-old Toms River woman was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash in Toms River early Thursday morning.

Mellisa Vo of Boxwood Terrace East was operating a 2003 Toyota when she left Silver Bay Road just east of Moonlight Court and struck a utility pole shortly after 1:00 a.m., said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.

She was then ejected from the vehicle and landed in the roadway, Stocco added.

Vo was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment for multiple injuries, according to Stocco. She is listed in critical condition.
