Woman arrested in shoplifting, scuffle at mall

A Pennsylvania woman was arrested following a scuffle after she was spotted shoplifting clothing at the Tri-State Mall in Claymont, police said.

A report from the Wilmington News Journal details the charges against Ebonie L. Riley, 30, of Chester, which includes second-degree robbery, offensive touching, disorderly conduct, attempted escape, assault and resisting arrest.

The incident unfolded about 11:30 a.m. at Burlington Coat Factory, where Riley was confronted by an employee who allegedly saw her shoplift some clothing. When the employee tried to detain Riley until police arrived, he was punched in the mouth by the woman, according to authorities.

The employee was able to subdue Riley until troopers got there and took her into custody, but on the way to Troop 1 on Philadelphia Pike, Riley allegedly became combative, injuring a trooper and was tasered before being taken to an interview room.
