Wolf: Outlines of Pa. budget deal in place

Gov. Tom Wolf said the broad outlines of a budget deal are in place to break Pennsylvania’s budget stalemate in its fifth month and an ambitious hope is to wrap up the work by Thanksgiving.

Wolf spoke Tuesday evening for a minute to reporters about the potential deal that Republican lawmakers made public a day earlier.

Wolf gave no new details, and he wouldn’t answer questions. He also says many details are unfinished.

Meanwhile, he rolled back his office’s statement from a day earlier that it had secured an agreement for $750 million in new dollars over two years for public schools, special education and pre-kindergarten programs.

Republican lawmakers disputed some elements of that assertion, and Wolf now says the agreement is for $350 million for public schools this year.
