Members of the Wilmington police department say they plan to run alongside a former Marine who was punched in the face during a cross-country run for veterans.
J. Brendan O’Toole was assaulted during the run Wednesday. Police later made an arrest.
On Monday morning, Wilmington officers plan to join O’Toole as he re-starts his three-mile ceremonial run in the city.
The run begins and ends at the city’s public safety building.
Wilmington Police Corporal Mark Ivey says it’s important to show that that one incident does not reflect the city or the state of Delaware.
