Wildwood considers beach tags to help foot clean-up bill
If you enjoy plopping you beach chair in Wildwood for free, then you’d better start cleaning up your act.
Mayor Ernie Troiano said he’s considering implementing a beach tag system to offset the costs of cleaning up beach-goers’ trash.
He told the Daily News if everyone picked up after themselves, the city could spend less time and money combing the beach for trash. A clean beach costs about $1.5 million a year, and it’s the homeowners who pay the costs.
For now it’s just an idea. Troiano is looking into how much a beach tag system would cost to implement. So consider this your warning to keep the fugdy-wudgy wrappers out of the sand.
