Wet weather

    Morning, folks!

Today wouldn’t be a good day to forget the umbrella – flood warnings abound across Pennsylvania as a huge rainstorm approaches. Here’s a roundup:

Authorities in Pittsburgh say the Mon Wharf parking area will be closed today in anticipation of heavy rain and rising waters forecast by the National Weather Service.

The Monongahela River is expected to rise above 18 feet, at which point the wharf floods. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says it could be closed for several days.

The weather service has also issued a flood watch for the Lehigh Valley.

The Morning Call of Allentown reports a forecast of up to 3 inches of rain, beginning late tonight into Wednesday night.

Weather service meteorologist Joe Miketta says he is concerned about wind gusts and possible flash floods in smaller streams and creeks.

Things’ll really get rolling tonight, continue through tomorrow, and finally dry out on Thursday.
