Western Pa. woman hit by own car while helping to chase runaway dog

A good deed by a woman helping an elderly man chase his unleashed dog ended with the woman getting hit by her own car.

The Associated Press reports the woman is now recovering after she was hit by her own car in North Huntingdon Township Monday.

According to police, the woman noticed a man chasing his dog and pulled over to help him Monday morning.

The woman apparently stopped her car on an uphill portion of the road and didn’t put it into park.

As a result, the AP says the car rolled toward her, with the door hitting her.

The woman was flown to a Pittsburgh area hospital with chest pains. The Associated Press says it was not immediately clear if the pains were heart related or the result of the car door’s impact.

Police say the Jack Russell terrier who was on the run was found a short time later.
