West Long Branch police officer struck by car outside football game

    A West Long Branch police officer sustained injuries after being struck by a motorist this evening while directing traffic outside a football game at Shore Regional High School.

    The officer, who was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, sustained serious, but non-life threatening, injuries, according to a police source. 

    The struck officer was in the parking lot outside the football game between Shore Regional High School and Asbury Park, the source said. 

    Authorities have not publicly identified the officer.
