Weekend rain forces Popped Music Fest. indoors

Heavy rain in the forecast took its toll on a popular Philadelphia music event yesterday and today, as organizers of the Popped Music Festival switched locations this week to avoid inclement weather.

NewsWorks reporter Peter Crimmins reports the festival, which was scheduled to take place in South Philadelphia’s FDR Park, was relocated to the Liacouras Center on the Temple University Campus.

The indoor venue seemed to upset some fans.  On Facebook, fans reacted to yesterday’s move, with one fan even telling NewsWorks he had turned his ticket in for a refund.

The decision was made in part because FDR Park is known to flood easily in wet weather.  When forecasts earlier this week indicated the potential for heavy rain, organizers quickly responded, moving the event indoors.
