Weekend family fun includes art, fairs, and cupcakes!

    Great family events in the Northwest this weekend! Springtime brings great festivals to the area, and this weekend is no exception.

     

    Bredenbeck’s Decorate-a-Cupcake Night: Friday, May 18th 6:00-8:00pm.

    Come to the Northwest’s favorite bakery and decorate fresh-baked chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. FREE for kids under 12. Brendenbeck’s is located at 8126 Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill.

    SCHingding: Saturday, May 19th 11:30-3:00pm.

    Springside Chestnut Hill Academy is celebrating the merger of Springside School with Chestnut Hill Academy at the SCHingdig. This is FREE and open to the public. The carnival includes fun and games for kids or all ages including photo booth, moon bounces, toss games and giant inflatable slide. Parents will enjoy the burger brawl featuring local chefs as well as the Community Patch where they can check out the resource and activities at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy as well as their summer camp.

    A talent show featuring acts from the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy student population will keep everyone entertained! Activities will be centered primarily on the huge field across from the Willow Grove Campus right on West Willow Grove Avenue and adjacent to the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Guests are encouraged to bring used sports equipment to donate to the Philadelphia Youth Organization (PYO) and the student Eco club is collecting gently used shoes of all types.     Enfield-Erdenheim Carnival, Saturday, May 19th 11:00am-3:00pm.

    Enfield Elementary School is the site of the annual carnival where kids get a chance at a wide range of fun games, delicious food, clowns and great raffle prizes, carnival is located in Flourtown at 500 Haws Lane. 

     

    Open House Woodmere Art Museum: Saturday, May 19th 1:00-4:00pm.

    This is a free studio open house event for anyone interested in meeting the studio faculty, seeing samples of the artists’ work, learning about their teaching methods and watching demonstrations. The open house is open to all ages and will include a children’s activity from 1-3pm. 

     

    Philadelphia on Parade at the Mann Center: Saturday May 19th 11am.  

    Not in the Northwest, but definitely worth an excursion!  Tons of world music on 5 stages, a children’s pavillion and health care pavillion.  Bring chairs & picnic!  Admission is free, but registration highly recommended!
