An overnight water main break left approximately 70 residents without water on the unit block of West Sharpnack St. in Mt. Airy.

PWD crews have been working to repair the problem and restore water service since 9 a.m., said Philadelphia Water Department relief repairman, Ricardo Sears.

Sears estimated that the repair would be completed by the evening. “Hopefully by 5 p.m.”

“Considering the extent of it, we’re moving along a great pace,” he said.

Through the city, PWD currently has 12 crews out, each with three water main repair jobs assigned, Sears said.
