Vineland residents charged monthly trash pickup fee

Property owners in Vineland, N.J., will begin paying a monthly trash collection fee of $18 in July, instead of paying based on assessed property values. The fee will be included in a monthly utility bill along with water and electric charges.

A public meeting will be held on June 22 at 7 p.m. in the municipal building at Wood and Sixth streets, the Press of Atlantic City reports, where city officials will give details on the flat fee. Mayor Robert Romano vetoed the fee earlier this year, but City Council voted to override it.
