Kevin Doherty just planned on launching his remote control helicopter affixed with a camera to capture the sun setting over the frozen Barnegat Bay in Seaside Park Thursday.

    What actually happened stunned him.

“I was just messing around with the helicopter, trying to get a picture of a sunken boat,” said Doherty, a hobbyist who operates Ocean Aerial Photography on Facebook. “All of a sudden, I saw a fox walking across the ice. It just happened so random.”

Many red foxes live in nearby Island Beach State Park, so it’s not uncommon to see them on the barrier island, but Doherty’s footage is certainly unique.
