VIDEO: Mantoloking tears down Superstorm Sandy-damaged municipal building
The municipal building in Mantoloking has been sitting vacant since being compromised by Superstorm Sandy in October 2012.
That changed today.
A demolition crew razed the structure, beginning a new chapter in the small borough on the northern barrier island in Ocean County.
Officials say that the borough intends to rebuild an elevated structure in the same location, protecting it from future storm surges.
Ed O’Malley, who operates Bay Head & Mantoloking Today, captured the footage above of heavy machinery ripping through the building Monday morning.
