Vehicle fire spurs delays on GSP southbound in Monmouth County early Monday afternoon

    UPDATE (2:35 P.M.): Traffic is all clear following a passenger van fire in the Garden State Parkway southbound express lanes at milepost 105.5 shortly before noon. Earlier, traffic in the southbound lanes stretched back to Exit 114.

    Traffic is heavy on the Garden State Parkway southbound lanes in Monmouth County early Monday afternoon following a vehicle fire.

    The passenger van fire broke out shortly before noon at milepost 105.5, blocking the express right lane, according to 511nj.org.

    At 12:30 p.m., heavy traffic extends for miles in the southbound lanes to near Exit 114, according to Google Traffic.

    JSHN contributor Tony Ciccariello reported seeing a column of black smoke shortly before noon. Another JSHN contributor, Kelly Owens Blair, captured video of firefighters dousing the fire.
