Union announces tentative agreement for Philadelphia school workers

Pending a vote by members, 32BJ SEIU District 1201 has reached an agreement for Philadelphia school workers.

The tentative deal would “cut by two-thirds the number of threatened layoffs, provides three years of job protection and avoids massive give backs in healthcare and other contract terms,” according to a statement from District 1201 Leader George Ricchezza.

The union represents more than 3,000 Philadelphia public school aides, bus drivers, attendants, mechanics, building engineers, cleaners and maintenance workers.
