Two Phillies added to mural, with total number of team faces nearing 30

Two more Phillies players have been chosen to appear on the team’s mural, meaning there will soon be almost 30 Phillies faces overlooking the Walnut Street Bridge.

Fans had eight players to choose from when asked who should join the likes of Brad Lidge, Mike Schmidt and others on the mural, but the vote was too close to call and artist David McShane agreed to add the top two to the eight-story mural.

They would be catcher Carlos Ruiz and former left fielder Greg “The Bull” Luzinski.

“To represent the Phillies for years to come on this mural is such an honor,” reads a statement from Ruiz on the Phillies’ website.
