Tributes and celebrations this Memorial Day

Before firing up the grill this afternoon there are a number of remembrances and services across the Delaware Valley to display your Patriotic colors on Memorial Day.     In Bridesburg, attend the largest Memorial Day parade in the region.  A memorial service to honor those killed during military service begins at 9:15 a.m. followed by a parade which will march on Richmond and Juniata Streets. If you are looking to beat the heat, the National Constitution Center in Center City is featuring a number of free events including how to properly raise an American flag as well as a 20-minute program that demystifies the history behind some of our most revered national monuments. Not interested in history, but still want to celebrate the day?  Hang Free is hosting its first party of the season in Fairmount Park.  More than five DJ’s are lined up to spin records from 1 p.m. until dark with Frisbee, touch football and other field games.  For a complete listing of Memorial Day events in the area click here.
