Trial set for man accused of FDR Park arson

    The man arrested in June in connection with a playground fire at FDR Park will face trial.

    Kevin Beattie was arrested a week after the fire destroyed the playground inside the South Philadelphia park. Beattie was charged with arson and other related offenses, and has now been held for trial.

    Days after the fire, the Philadelphia Eagles vowed to help rebuild the torched playground, which sustained $300,000 worth of damages. The Daily News reportsthe new equipment is expected to be installed by the end of the year.
