Tough talk

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, a Kansas congregation classified by the Anti-Defamation League as a hate group, are set to bring their signs with slogans such as “God Hates America” and “Pray for More Dead Soldiers” to protest outside two Catholic schools and a community center on Dec. 20 as part of a “road show.”

According to Tom Rowan Jr. in his Daily News report, the group will be demonstrating outside Father Judge and Archbishop Ryan high schools in the Northeast, and the Jewish Community Center at Broad and Lombard streets. On its website, the group said it planned the protests in part as a response to the sex abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic church in recent years.

As probably could be expected, angry parents have bombared the schools after hearing the news, and a group of Father Judge alumni started a Facebook page to organize a counter-protest.
