    Here are some picks for family fun in Northwest Philly this upcoming weekend:

    Interfaith Children & Youth Festival

    A community festival with food, pop-up shops, entertainment, arts & crafts and other activities. Be sure to check out 13-year-old Victoria Johnson — she will be signing her children’s book: “The Lemonade Standoff,” a story about honesty, respect and forgiveness.

    Rainbow Loom weavers to sell creations at O’Doodles

    Kids have an opportunity to sell their homemade creations of Rainbow Loom bracelets, rings, and necklaces. Some children are raising money for themselves or donating funds to a charity. Tables will be set up inside the store and on the sidewalk for children. Everyone is welcome to participate as a vendor or a customer.

    The Philadelphia Ceili Group’s 39th Annual Traditional Irish Music and Dance Festival

    Celebrate, foster and promote traditional Irish arts and culture. The festival will feature a wide range of evening and daytime performances and activities. Live music by the McGillians & Friends; Tony DeMarco’s Atlantic Wave and many more. There will be Irish dance demonstrations and workshops with internationally known musicians. Perfect activities for the whole family, all ages!

    Please Touch Museum Stroller in the Park

    A family-friendly 5K stroll around Fairmount Park promotes the “Get Up and Grow” initiative to encourage healthy families. The stroll starts and ends at the Please Touch Museum. Families receive health snacks, group stretch instruction, t-shirts and gift bags. Participating children will receive a medal and all participants get complimentary access to the Please Touch Museum before it opens to the public.

    Hefty Harvest and Scary Scarecrows Family Festival

    Welcome the fall harvest at this annual celebration. There will be five different activity tables set up in the Garden for children to explore. Families can enjoy games, crafts and have the chance to make a full-sized scarecrow to take home. There will also be Bountiful Harvest concession stand serving pumpkin, cranberries and apples. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the rides.

    Mexican Independence Day

    Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with Mexican music, authentic Mexican traditional food, dancing, face painting, arts and crafts and giveaways organized by the Mexican Cultural Center. Get a taste of the rich Mexican culture at the festival where kids can learn about Mexico’s past, while witnessing the traditional “Grito de Independencia,” a civic ceremony led by the Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia. Musicians include Brazeros Musical de Durango and Stars of the Future Rosita y Hermanos Montero.  
Visitors are encouraged to dress in authentic Mexican attire for prizes.
