Toomey will serve on Congress’ debt super committee

Pa. Sen. Pat Toomey will sit on Congress’ 12-member super committee on national debt.

He and 11 others are charged with finding ways to reduce the federal government’s deficit by more than $1 trillion.

The Associated Press reports Toomey was named to the committee by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Toomey didn’t vote for the deficit reduction package Congress passed last week because he didn’t think it was serious enough. He’s been outspoken about prioritizing the nation’s debt.
