Toms River steps up hurricane debris collections

As Toms River residents work to clear Irene’s debris, the public works department will step up collections.

Brush collections have been ramped up, Toms River Patch reports, so residents can leave those tree limbs curbside.
But hauling that massive downed tree to the curb might not be worth the effort. Only branches shorter than 4 feet and no more than 6 inches thick will be picked up.

Come Monday, only regular garbage will be collected. Because of Labor Day, recycling will be delayed a day.
