Tom Knox not a Pa. gubernatorial candidate, might run for Philly mayorship

    Let’s talk elections.

Wealthy businessman Tom Knox has candidacy on the brain again, but not for the nearing Pennsylvania gubernatorial election.

“After careful consideration and many discussions with people whom I deeply respect, I am seriously considering a run for mayor of Philadelphia in 2015,” reads the press statement from Knox circulated Thursday morning. “Consequently, I am making it clear today that I am not a candidate for governor, despite the well-intentioned hopes of others that I would ultimately run.”

Knox says he’s being encouraged to run for mayor, and will make a formal announcement about his intentions in “the very near future.” He ran for mayor in 2007, but ended up not running in the 2011 election.
