Toddler twins dead in Philly, mom being questioned

Investigators in Philadelphia say a woman is in custody following the deaths of her 18-month-old twins.

Police say the boy and girl appear to have died of suffocation. Authorities say their 41-year-old mother attempted to take her own life by slitting her wrists, and they believe she gave some kind of prescription pills to her 4-year-old daughter. The 4-year-old is hospitalized. Information on her condition isn’t available.

NBC 10 reports the mother left four letters inside the home explaining a possible motive.

Neighbors say the woman is a nurse. They say her husband called 911 when he came home from his job as a corrections officer yesterday and saw what happened.
